Jenna Bush, the 27-year-old daughter of former president George W. Bush, will collaborate as correspondent for NBC’s Today show starting sometime in September.
Jenna, a teacher in Baltimore, will produce stories every month on issues like education, women, children and literacy, said Jim Bell executive producer for the Today show.
In an interview with the Associated Press, the former first daughter said she was intrigued by the idea of getting into television when Bell contacted her.
"It wasn't something I'd always dreamed to do," she said. "But I think one of the most important things in life is to be open-minded and to be open-minded for change."
Mr. Bell said the idea popped up after seen Jenna in a television appearance in the show two years ago, where she went to promote her book “Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope."
"I think she can handle it," Bell said. "I think she knows something about pressure and being under some scrutiny. When she came here for a handful of appearances, she knocked it out of the park."
NBC said Jenna would continue working as a part time teacher at her school at the same time she collaborates for Today.
