NEW YORK -- Late night comedian David Letterman apologized on Monday to his wife, Regina Lasko, few days after revealing that he had been sexually involved with staff member women from his show.
Letterman said on his Late Night show his wife had been “horribly hurt by my behavior” and vowed to repair his relationship.
"Let me tell you folks, I got my work cut out for me," he said ruefully.
The comedian also apologized to his staff saying he felt “terribly sorry that I put the staff in that position, he said. “I just wasn’t thinking ahead.”
Letterman remarks had a mix of remorse, sarcasm and jokes. On his monologue he implied that no one was talking to him these days.
“I’ll be honest with you folks, right now I would give anything to be hiking on the Appalachian Trail,” he said. “I got into the car this morning and the navigation lady wasn’t speaking to me.”
